At the Medical Electronics & Radiation Photonics Lab (MERP Lab), we explore the frontiers of radiation-based imaging and therapeutic technologies.
Our mission is to transform invisible energy—such as photons and charged particles—into meaningful information for medical diagnosis and treatment.
We focus on developing next-generation detectors, sensors, image formation and processing algorithms, and systems for Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Photon-Counting Computed Tomography (PCCT), and hybrid imaging modalities. Leveraging advances in nanophotonics, metamaterials, ultrafast electronics, and AI-driven real-time processing, we aim to achieve unprecedented spatial and temporal resolution in medical imaging.
Through close integration of engineering innovation and clinical needs, our research strives to enable earlier disease detection, reduced patient dose, and improved therapeutic outcomes—paving the way toward precision healthcare.
